A new chapter has been opened in the history of women football in central region with the introduction of the K1.5 Million Matindi Girls Football Trophy, which will be competed for by secondary school teamsfrom the central region.

The trophy was launched Saturday, March 02, 2013 at Nankhaka Ground in Area 30, where there were women football games involving some schools in Lilongwe.
